Kew 3 drew Footscray 3Well, one couldn’t say it was the best of starts with Footscray scoring in the first 40 seconds. Luckily we stemmed that rate of scoring so the score didn’t end up at 105 – 0. However the weak start put us behind the eight ball very early and constant pressure from the Footscray team made things difficult.
Shining efforts from Gus kept us in the running. Put under the pump the whole game and being behind all of the time made things difficult. An individual effort from the returning Mark Davis snagged us our first goal.
Matt Lumb got on the scoresheet later with another goal for his season tally. With time running out and down 3-2, Gus who was hacked down all day, drove into the circle and was heavily tackled and got a stroke. Sam Scott stepped up and did the honors faultlessly and we’d squared it a 3-3.
Footscray broke through similarly and managed to earn themselves a stroke. However, Chopper was up to the task and saved it. He repelled a few full time corners as well.
Lucky to get a point and more fortunate to have Albury have a draw as well, It’s all coming down to the last round.
STATE LEAGUE 1 PROMOTION
1 Point is keeping us on top of the ladder and we are playing State League 2 traditional rivals Melbourne Uni. We win this and we’re back in State League 1. We’d love all the support from the Kew faithful. We’re playing out at Melbourne Uni and would appreciate anyone who can get down there for the game on Sunday at 2:00pm. Melbourne will have their crew out in force and we’d love to match that support. Have your hand in Kew Mens Promotion and get there and make some noise!!!!
