Womens M3S v Doncaster Preliminary Final
The Metro 3 South headed out to Yarra Valley Grammar College to do battle with Doncaster. We started well with Kelly Cutler scoring a great goal from right wing quite early in the first half. Our backs,  Mel Pattenden and Elishka Marvan,  did a great job in keeping the Doncaster forwards under control and any forward who did get through was ably taken care of by our goalkeeper, Linda Boyd.
Our forwards kept up the pressure and were unlucky not to score again before half time.  In the second half Jess Wilson penetrated the Doncaster defence on a number of occasions and finally put the goal in the net. Our team played very well, and with young fast forwards, looked dangerous at all times. Jess Wilson scored the next goal and it was then we were confident of playing MCC in the Grand Final.
This team has a number of young players (two from under 15) who have excellent skills and are very enthusiastic. This is good news for the future of the K.E.W. Hockey Club.
We play MCC in the Grand Final on Saturday, 20th September at 2.00 p.m. at Yarra Hockey Centre. Come and give us your full  support and help Stephanie Franet celebrate her 21st birthday.
Happy Birthday Stephanie from the 3 south team. Congratulations also on your hockey, you have had a great season.
