The Harp 80s Night
Round One Social Event – Harp 80’s night
The Hype(r-colour) for this night was as great as that for the fall of the Berlin Wall and the end of the Cold War. Savers and the Salvos (and some people own wardrobes) were raided for the Kew Crew to set up for a bodacious evening which ‘most definitely’ lived up to be a ‘most triumphant’ event. It did seem like most players were out to walk 500 miles, and perhaps 500 more with ‘Jane Fonda’ aerobics attire the go. Always a tough choice for those cooler cats in the 80’s; stonewash or acid wash and how many converse socks to wear layered over them.
A large posse collected to listen to classics from Boy George, Cyndi and Madonna and the moves of the dance floor were rad and ace. Cliques well represented were jocks, nerds, punks and glams but there was only the one character from A Country Practice who was also voted drunkest Molly there.
A couple of after parties… one in Chapel Street to play Pac Man and one in Surrey Hills to play Space Invaders.
