Women’s PB v TEM (R2)
As all hockey players experienced on Sunday, the weather was true Melbourne hockey weather and was a great touch to go along with the coughs, colds, and strange bum injuries (Myers) some of out team were exhibiting on Sunday.
We played TEM’s at H-2 and won the toss, enabling us to start with the ball. We showed some excellent linking up in the forward line and had some short corner opportunities but was not able to convert. We made it to half time nil all. There had been a couple of close calls at either end and we were hoping we could turns things around in the next half.
With some words of encouragement from Hans we headed back into battle, meanwhile the supporters headed further into undercover and cars to avoid the blistering cold rain.
Soon we began to loose the battle and found TEM’s delivering more balls deep into out defense and they definitely were not holding back, Tina went off with a very purple bruised looking hand and few other players were lucky to avoid various other injuries. With 20 minutes to go they scored three goals in quick succession…we had a few close calls but not enough.
3-0 loss.
Better luck next week girls! German/English word for the week: sich aufstellen/line up.
Next week we start off a great hockey filled Saturday day at the SNHC-1 at 12:30 vs Hawthorn, followed by the Women’s SL2 and Men’s SL2 teams. Come down and support!
