Men’s PB v MUHC (R3)

Result – Kew 4 – MUHC 4

MUHC went 3 goals up in the first 25 minutes. A start that was a real shock to the team, considering the solid way we had commenced the previous 2 rounds. I suspect this poor start was partly due to the forced reorganistaion of the Kew defence, and to the quality that was present in the MUHC forward line. But thankfully Kew had the ability to play out the full 70 minutes of the game and get a reasonable result.

It was a particularly gutsy and persistent recovery to bring the scores level with two minutes to play, the fourth goal a cracking PC hit by Chris Alderman. One final cruel twist nearly eventuated when MUHC were controversially awarded a PC for the last play of the day. This was defended strongly after the whistle to ensure the points were rightfully shared.

The highlight for the game was the 2 goals scored by club seconds’ debutant Steven Gale. He showed that this grade is not beyond him and will almost certainly get more opportunities to play there this year. Next time, hopefully Stevey wont have to rely on Bluey’s shoes (2 sizes too big), his uniform and stick to get a run. Sorry about the late notice Steve!

Next game is against Southern United, at Moorabbin on Saturday night at 5:00pm.

Best Players: Alderman, Heaven, O’Sullivan, Lowden

Goals: Gale (2), Monroe, Alderman
