KEW Hockey Club

Well we all turned up rather confused, as the weather appeared to be sunny and warm. Nice day for Hockey and a nice day for the 4ths to go for their first win for the season.

 

This week the 4ths welcomed Leah to the team. The Waverley team had a couple of rough nuts applying dirty tackles here and there. But through great work by Jess N, Cip, Mel H, Steph & Anna across the half line we went around these obstacles rather than through them.

 

Waverley who were after their first win also, found a goalie and started to apply plenty of Forward pressure which was resisted by Mel P, Elishka and Penny in Goals. Towards half time our inners of Leah and Jess R started to find the space they were looking for and with great runs down both sidelines set up Donna, Isabella & Kelly across the forward line. With the ball bouncing around in front of the goals Leah put one in the back of the net to get the team going.

 

The second half arrived and both teams showed sign of fatigue and the skill level started to drop. But the girls fought to get two goals in the second half through a Anna C strike and a desperate effort by Donna on the left post to tap it over. We didn’t play our best but we finished up victorious 3-2, which was a well deserved win after two great chances in the first two weeks.
