Women’s PB v Hawthorn (R3)

Kew 1 def Hawthorn 0

Saturday at the State Hockey centre, the opener to a Kew filled day…very different in contrast to last weeks weather, we actually found the sun was out and reasonably warm keeping the team in good spirits to face Hawthorn.

Some good passages of play this week by the 2′s and some positional changes worked well. Lucy came into the forward line diving for balls at every chance, and eventually this paid off. After having the ball raised into her off a 16, which the umpires thought this required no whistle…we played on in surprise, so did Hawthorn and after some tackles for the ball on the left of the circle and a dive by Lucy and goal was scored.

1-0 up at half time and Hans had lots to say to ensure we kept the lead. Thankfully we did and we managed to finish with a 1-0 win! A hard fought game by the team, terrific work! Next sunday week we play Melb uni at 3:30, hopefully another win on the way and hopefully a more creative match report.
