Result: Kew 2 - Footscray 0.

After starting out the season with only 9 players, a healthy squad of 13 with three new recruits pulling up in the car park at Footscray was enough to put smiles on the faces of the Kew girls before the match even began. With renewed confidence, the blue and white shirts had the majority of the play in the first half, but were unable to convert a number of chances into a goal.
ÂÂ
The drought was broken early in the second half with new recruit Carolyn slamming one into the back of the net off a short corner. The Kew girls wouldn’t normally consider themselves the type seeking to benefit from others misfortune, but when one of the home team players was carried from the field leaving the team down a player the girls kept the pressure on. Trish announced her round 3 return to the team with another great goal and things were looking good. A courageous back line and some nice work in goal from Penny saw us through some anxious moments in the final minutes, keeping the scoreboard blank for the home team and securing our first win for the season.
