Men’s Pennant E v Southern (R5)
Finally the Barn Doors had a fixture that was bound to draw the biggest of crowds. Saturday 3.30 at The Kew Dome.
With Pommy Dan back from the motherland and Cracka back from coaching duties a more settled side took to the lush fields of Elgar against top of the ladder Southern United.
As expected southern was fast and furious with both leg speed and ball movement. Once Kew was able to slow play down with precise passing and switching back between Cracka and Rob (Dog) Downs deep in defence up to the old fashioned halves, Kew gained ascendancy early on.
A DK bullet to Ballarat’s finest export Jez Bourke opened the score card. Southern never got back into the game after this.
With Jez Selkrig and Macca giving spark off the bench, thus allowing the forward to rotate was a huge advantage and thus underlying how important it is to go into all games 13 strong and capable. The pace of S Chang was invaluable all day.
Further goals to: Coach Kieren, DK short corner and a backward TOMA from the top of the circle from Dan completed the days mission to END the two game losing streak with a 4 – 1 victory (despite Kim refusing put the ball between the posts with nobody to beat)!!
Many thanks once again to the PE Loyal Ladies whom support this team every week. The boys really do appreciate your support and cheering.
