Men’s PE v Camberwell (R7)

It is a cliche but how true it rang on Sunday. Poor preparation equates to Poor performance. On Tuesday night, training was flat. Before the game, the mood was anything but upbeat. It was clear that some players cannot perform at Pennant level shall we say “under the weather”.

Camberwell had a very experience line up whom played simple hockey down their right hand side all game, Kew’s inability to score goals with minimal pressure and inability to hit the backboard one on one with the keeper was very disappointing to watch. Half time score was 0 – 1.

A little improvement in the second half, but the continual inability to make correct leads and traps allowed Camberwell to go 2 – 0 up. Finally, some smart play in the circle from Simon Chang allowed TC to score, Camberwell then replied shortly thereafter. Another DK bullet on a short corner made the score 2 – 3.

The Kew forwards need learn to obtain short corners and not try to do everything themselves, Kew has had approx 6 short corners in the last 3 weeks and scored off 4 of them.

Big thanks to John Hacker whom put the pads on and kept very well indeed. And Lachie Morrison whom doubled up and played a very sound game.

Hopefully the break will allow some players to re-group and get back on track and allow themselves the ability to play hockey fully fit.

Final Score: Camberwell 3 def Kew 2.

Goal Scorers: Tom Clements 1 and David Kahanoff 1.
