Women’s M1N v Altona (R7)

LOSS v Altona 1-0

The T-Birds didn’t start the game well with our equal-best goal scorer from last week, Sarah Hobson, forgetting a minor detail in her weekend schedule: to play hockey. One down but we still had one interchange player so things weren’t too problematic… yet.

The game was rough from the outset:

  • Kate dislocated her shoulder after a collision with an Altona player;
  • Scarlett allegedly got hit in the stomach by an Altona stick and nearly had a punch-on over it;
  • Al thought she was playing football and gave a hip and shoulder instead of tackling the ball, taking herself and her Altona opponent out in the process; and
  • Al almost got sent off as a result of getting two green cards for the noise coming from the sideline umpiring squad!

Fi announced her retirement from switching the ball after a mis-hit resulted in an Altona goal. Unfortunately, the T-Birds couldn’t recover and ended the game 1-0 down.
