KEW Hockey Club

Well unfortunately the 4ths continued a pretty poor weekend for the Club going down 2-1 after being in front at half time. They came up against a bitter rival in MCC who the girls embarrassed in last years GF. But I think MCC came a little more fired up for this game, as Kew had girls running late, and some late withdrawals along with other sick players that toughed out the game.

 

It started out as a even contest and Kew pushed forward when given a bit of space, putting some shots on goal and then earning a two short corners. The second one put away beautifully with a text book inside post shot from Mel P. But as the second half developed, MCC tightened up their defence and cut down the running game of Kew.

 

Meters were hard earned going forward and then having to sprint back to defend after a few turn-overs. Unfortunately these turn-overs turned into two goals with Kew not being able to respond. Not our best game of the season, but one we can learn from. Expect to see us on the winners list after the long weekend.
