KEW Hockey Club

The women’s 2′s ventured to the game on Saturday to a freezing Essendon, it was a rough game, we started with 10 and then were able to put our DS Alyson on 15 minutes later. To make matters worse Kath Dyson got sent off for an unknown reason,when later questioning why, the delightful umpire said ‘ask your player, she knows why’…well she was also baffled as to why she was being sent off so this was no help. Then a short corner was blown even though none of this happened near the circle, we were still unsure why! (Thanks to V Spak) (Slab for the team please dyson!)  so we played another 10 mins of the game with 10 players, but kept Essendon scoreless

 

The forward line was interchanging this week with the usual ever reliable members Mel, Charlotte, Dyson and Katie, we also welcome the inclusion of the youthful Emma and Sarah CG, they were able put some more pace into the attack.

 

The defense this week was depleted and Vanessa stepped back into the side and played full back with Tina and Alyson interchanging, well done to Miling, Sophie and Katie who fought hard on the half line and kept their wings goal-less. Great job to the defense with the reshuffle this week! The team held the game to nil all untill the last 10 minutes when Essendon scored a goal. The score was not reflective of the game, unfortunately Essendon had a bit more luck on their side.
