Women’s PB V Footscray (R9)

This week we needed a win, playing against a lower team on the ladder it was a must win game. Within the first 10 minutes Footscray scored. The 2′s began to switch on after this and fought hard. But once again leading into half time Footscray scored again!

The second half saw Vanessa our full back score a goal, a hit from the top putting the score at 2-1. The 2′s were all over Footscray and the game was looking like a draw was at least was on the cards.

Though then disaster struck, Miling rolled her ankle during the game and proceeded to hobble to then bench. Then Mel injured her calf, Miling had to give the ice pack to Mel. Could things get any worse?…well within minutes Tina went down with a foot injury after being hit by the ball, this brought on Issabella Hassal for her first game in the 2′s. Tina though thankfully was able to join back into the game when Lucy got hit across the neck and took herself off the pitch in the dying minutes of the game.

With lots of re shuffling and the emergency ward in the Kew dugouts very busy the chances of scoring a goal started looking bleak and time was ticking. Unfortunately the final whistle went leaving the game as 2-1.

Next week the 2′s hopes to beat MCC another must win game and we also hope some players recover from injury!

2-1 loss
