Women’s M1N v Footscray (R10)

Kew def. Footscray 3-1

Kew went into this game confident after their impressive 6-0 win last week, despite being up against 2nd-placed Footscray. We welcomed Tina from the 2nds for her return to the T-Birds, who provided us with a strong option up forward.

The T-Birds dominated early and after some smooth passing up the field, the ball ended up on the end of Palmer’s stick at the top of the circle, who continued her scoring ways (after getting a hat trick last week!) and scored Kew’s first goal.

We went into half time 1-0 up but starting to get tired. Footscray came out in the 2nd half strong so we knew we needed an early goal to steady the ship. That came through a Walker shot that went in. Walker also produced our 3rd goal with about 10 minutes to go. Footscray started getting desperate and had a lot of it in their attacking half but the Kew defence held strong. Footscray got their goal from a short corner shot, which was almost stopped on the line by Fi but went in. The final whistle blew soon after and the Kew song was sung loud and proud for the third week in a row!
