Women’s SL2 v Werribee (R10)

Saturday arvo saw the Kew girls venturing to stinky Werribee to get three big points. Travelling afar, we were fired up to defeat the bottom team, and within the first 20 minutes, Kew were dominating with 5 fast goals.

The high pony tail and ribboned Kew squad were definitely at an advantage physically, with speed and acceleration faster than local zoo creatures. The large assets of the opposition were occasionally used as a distraction device however, overwhelming us less endowed ladies. Still, it was not enough for them to win!

Lisa’s speed, energy and determination saw her scoring her first hat-trick ever!!! Top game Lisa.

It was Soph’s debut game in the firsts. She defended and distributed very well, impressing all around her with an amazing flat stick tackle.

Awesome space, positioning and leading by Amy was evident, and although a couple of very close goal misses occurred, she added 2 to the scoreboard. Sall seems to be getting faster and faster every game, and Saturday was no exception. She executed some brilliant play down the left wing using deceptions and drags constantly, also slotting 2 goals in.

Interstate spectator’s quote the cumbers as being “a very cohesive, smartly lycra-ed unit, who’s performance made the safari journey to wezza a pleasure.” Well done Kew chicks. 7-0 defeat felt rad.

GOALS: Lisa 3. Sall 2. Amy 2.
