Women’s SL2 v Geelong (R12)
After watching the Kew 2nds smash Hawthorn, we were feeling fairly buoyant as we prepared ourselves to slay the 9th placed Geelong. Things only improved as Bobby recalled perfectly the name of our opposition during the 3 cheers. Things got even better 90 seconds later, as our forwards combined well to slot our first goal.
Congratulations must go to debutant, Sarah C-G who not only held her own, but snagged her first state league goal as well making the U13 State Team this week. Well done Sarah.  Sophie Carolan played a solid Larry, and held their right wing goal-less. Fantastic effort for her second state league game.
Sally and Caz used their pace well, and completely burnt the opposition defenders, somehow finding extra room along the baseline to create opportunity in front of goal.
It was nice to see some fancy pants tosses in women’s hockey; Katie J’s overheads are coming along nicely.Â
All in all – it would have been nice to have maintained the same intensity throughout the entire match, as it is clear that goal difference may be a deciding factor come round 18. We are now sharing top spot on the ladder with TEMs and Powerhouse. Next week, we play 4th place Southern United, which is sure to be a must-win blockbuster, so we’d love to see you down there lending your support.
Goal scorers: Sally Smart (2), Sarah Chancellor-Goddard (1), Steph White (1), Caz White (1)
