Men’s SL2 v Mentone (R13)
It was the family day down at Elgar this weekend with a jumping castle and everything…..
Coming off a positive performance last week, the Men’s 1st were looking for some more points against a team we lost too in the first half of the season.
Once again we jumped off to a great start through some very good combinations between the half line and midfield, with Andrew Gale (Bluey) putting us on the board early.
Sam Scott made it 2-0 with a drag flick that clipped the cross bar on its way in, and we had Mentone on the back foot.
The return of Jimmy Grant from his hamstring injury, where he was treated by the world renound soft tissue expert Dr Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfarth. Paid off instantly with a great individual effort to make it 3-0 going into the halftime break.
Some solid defending and hard work across the board kept Mentone out early, but through a misunderstanding at the back the panthers got the first goal after the break.
Matt Gale, Sam Scott, Hans (German), Jimmy Lowden and Michael Heaven all stood up with Mentone pressing us midway through the second half.
There was a slight delay at the end of the game with Matt Gale taken to hospital, due to a stick to the head. (Whomever stick it was is not important).
[Editor's note – he’s OK by the way]
We held on to win the game 3-1.
Andrew Gale (Bluey) – He has red hair.
Rogue sticks owner – PB
