Women’s SL2 v MUHC (R14)

The phrase is ‘Danger Game’.  A team lower than you that can cause problems for no apparent reason.  A team with a terrible home ground that can lower skills to a very basic level.  Yes…we were playing MUHC.

We had chatted during the week about the trouble that top of the ladder TEMs had against MUHC.  Why?  After playing them for 70 minutes Kew does not have the answer but is now very aware of the problem.

Kew started with the speed and ferocity that is now expected of the team.  Flashing speed down both wings, overlaps from halves.  Kew looked the goods.  An early corner was forced and only just missed being converted.  Another hard, flat cross which went over the goals.  A little bit of luck would have seen Kew with at least 2 on the board at half time, but alas, 0-0 it was.

Katie James dominated the backs and managed to work a ‘toss’ into her game.  Not to be outdone, Kirsten is now incorporating this into her game too.   A little tutoring from Sammy Scott should see these two players providing full field tosses in no time.  Brooke and Phoebe shed blood for the team but to no avail.  Still no goal.

A little forced breather was required as a mistrap saw a MUHC player have her nose ‘audibly’ broken.  After this break Kew again looked like the dominant team but still only missed opportunities.  Even a corner after the whistle saw luck go against Kew as the keeper’s save flew over the goal.  Perhaps on any other day this would have gone in.

0-0 is a very disappointing score and now makes every game a must win for the remainder of the season.
