KEW U11 PA Grand Final

We started our season playing in U11 Shield. After losing our first 3 games we moved down to U11PA. There looked like there would be no finals for us this year, Al’s family booked a trip to Tassie for the day before the Grand Final. However in PA we found things a fair bit easier winning 11 games losing 3 and drawing 1 to finish top at the end of the home and away season. Back to Shield next season.

We won our semi final 2-1 against the fast finishing Camberwell, now all we needed to do was not lose to Powerhouse/St Kilda. We had not won against Powerhouse at all during the season (losing 3-1 and drawing 2-2). Al’s family thankfully moved their trip to Tassie back by a day. After having a long drive across the West Gate Bridge to Footscray we lined up. LW Ash, IL Ben, CF Alistair, IR Anthea, RW Elise, LH Patrick, CH Jack, RH Terry LB Fin, RB Darcy GK Bryce Inter Eric Emergencies Eliza and Emma Coach Steve White Team manager Scott.

We found it hard playing against the wind in the first half. We were lucky not to be losing at half time. Coming off at half time we were quite happy with our effort to have the score at 0-0. Having the wind to our advantage in the second half we got the first 3 goals through Alistair. The first goal was set up with a tackle in the defensive circle by Pat while Powerhouse was having a shot at Goals. Anthea received the ball at right inner she then drew the defender before then passing to Alistair who scored the first goal in a one on one with the keeper. This was the start of the Kew onslaught.

Shortly after we got a short corner. The ball was pushed to Jack who passed to Ben on his left. Ben then had a shot at the goals which went in the air at about knee height. Al deflected it in from the back line. Al followed up with yet another goal getting his second hat trick for the year. Then with five minutes to go Powerhouse got one back and threatened to draw the game with another attack. Thanks to some good goal keeping by Bryce and defence from Fin and Darcy we did not concede any more goals and won by two goals. Final Score 3-1!
