Mens PC v Essendon (R2)

The air temperature and crowd numbers were dropping quickly as Pennant C strode onto Elgar Park for a 6:30 clash against Essendon. Five personnel changes strengthened the Round one squad – returning to the thirds were Ben Johnston, Nick Reid, Tom Clements and Patty O’Sullivan whilst Julian Thornton made his Pennant C debut in the net.

From early in the first half Essendon’s chances plummeted quicker than the crowd numbers, as Pen C smashed home 8 goals in a dominating performance. A settled defence conceded only one goal throughout, as a fluid midfield led by Matthew Lumb continued feeding a hungry set of strikers. Notable performances up forward by Damon Hartung, Michael Doherty and Tom Clements.

WIN – 8 – 1.
