Thought hockey was over for the year? Think Again!

Kew Junior Hockey Club is holding four hockey clinics on consecutive Sunday mornings in November at Elgar Park.

All Kew Juniors and potential Kew Juniors welcome to participate.  Parents and other adults with an interest welcome to observe or ask questions—particularly for Session 2 on the Rules of Hockey.

Program

Session 1: Sunday 8th November 9:30—11:00am

“You’ve paid for it, you might as well use it all ” – Stick skills with every part of the stick.  With assorted talented senior players who can do assorted talented things with hockey sticks.

Session 2: Sunday 15th November 9:30—11:00am

“Was that really five metres?” – The intricacies of the rules—don’t be tricked.  Rules you need to know, uncommon applications, rules you can use to your advantage.  With Pete Hovenden, senior umpire, veterans’ supremo, club legend.  Interested adults very welcome.

Session 3: Sunday 22nd November 9:30—11:00am

“Cumber IQ ” – Strategies and Set Plays—some tactics for playing smarter as well as better.  With club coaches/players.

Session 4: Sunday 29th November 9:00—10:30am (Earlier start due to Champions Trophy that afternoon)

“The Secrets of Hockey” – (rescheduled) Our own Mr Hockey (Joe Hassall)  reveals the skills and attributes needed to be a successful hockey player.

There will be: practice and coaching of basic skills, guest presentations on hockey topics and some informal mixed “scratch” matches across various age-groups.

Make sure to bring: Stick, mouth guard, shin guards, water bottle, a hat and sunscreen (we are Sun Smart), and a coloured shirt and a white shirt (to distinguish teams for the “scratch” matches).

Cost: $5 donation per session, to cover basic expenses.

So if you are an experienced player wanting to refine aspects of your game, a beginner starting out, or anywhere in between, come along, have some fun and exercise on any or all of these Sunday mornings and develop your hockey skills.
