3rd XI

Women’s M1N v Knox (R13)

Kew def. Knox 3 – 0
Kew was very keen to beat Knox, as Knox beat them first time around at 1 – 0, scoring their goal in the last minutes of the game.
Kew dominated for the majority of the game, with strong defensive tackles, a determined forward line, and a hunger to score.
Izzy and Fi [...]

Women’s M1N v Werribee (R12)

T-Birds Vs Werribee
Having travelled to a ground which seemed like the middle of nowhere the T-birds were keen to start the match and warm up from the chilly wind.  However they were a little concerned with only 10 players 5 minutes from the start of the game, but luckily “Nic” turn up arrived for the [...]

Women’s M1N v La Trobe (R11)

Kew def. La Trobe Uni 2-1
Having beaten the second team on the ladder the previous round, Kew was determined to beat La Trobe Uni in order to have a chance at getting into the top four before the finals.
With our two backs Al and Fi absent, Alex and Steph made reliable replacements, making sure that [...]

Women’s M1N v Footscray (R10)

Kew def. Footscray 3-1
Kew went into this game confident after their impressive 6-0 win last week, despite being up against 2nd-placed Footscray. We welcomed Tina from the 2nds for her return to the T-Birds, who provided us with a strong option up forward.

Women’s M1N v Essendon (R8)

T-Birds Vs Essendon

Aware that Essendon sat below us on the ladder we were keen to ensure some goals were finally scored.  Kate Palmer made a courageous return playing with an injured shoulder (in need of a reconstruction).  Alex Nueman played her first game back for Kew, this allowed Fi to play up the field.  Jess [...]

Women’s M1N v Altona (R7)

LOSS v Altona 1-0

The T-Birds didn’t start the game well with our equal-best goal scorer from last week, Sarah Hobson, forgetting a minor detail in her weekend schedule: to play hockey. One down but we still had one interchange player so things weren’t too problematic… yet.

The game was rough from the outset:

Kate dislocated her shoulder [...]

Women’s M1N v Southern (R6)

T-Birds Vs Southern
With a large change in players over the last couple of weeks and the lack of goals the T-Birds took on Southern at SHC.  The T-birds welcomed Bree and Stacey for their first games and also Claire Walker for filling in this week.

Women’s M1N v Hawthorn (R5)

T-Birds 0 defeated by Hawthorn 2
At 6.30 on a Sunday evening as the cold was setting in the T-Birds were entering the match against Hawthorn with a kicking back until Ally could get onto the ground. Luckily for the potential kicking back Fi volunteered to pad up for the first 15 mins which gave the [...]

Women’s M1N v Knox (R4)

The T-Birds were hungry and ready to score after their first win for the season last week. Knox kept trying to get the ball to their scoring end but with some great tackles Kew took the ball off them with the determination to win two weeks in a row.
The most determined of all was Fi [...]

Women’s M1N v (R3)

WIN v Werribee 3-0

Goals: Em Morrow, Isabella Hassall, Vanessa King

Kew looked the fitter side from the outset (to put it nicely) so went into the game with the tactic of using our speed to win the ball. The tactic worked well, with the forwards running rings around the Werribee defence and having 18 circle penetrations [...]
