Women’s Vets B v Waverley

Kew 2 vs Waverley 1
Being the first day of school holidays we were missing a few Mums as we rolled up to Waverley Hockey Club, including three key defenders. However the thought that the home team might also be finding themselves in a similar position kept our hopes alive. We even had a [...]

Men’s PC v Camberwell (R10)

Kew 4 def Camberwell 1
Games against the Orange men tend to be well contested, closely fought and somewhat predictable. More Human Nature than Michael Jackson you might say. Lots of well tailored rugby tops and chinos and plenty of cinnamon bun to go around. But ultimately lacking any of the real magic like when Jacko [...]

Men’s M1W v Brunswick (R10)

With more ’special guest star appearances’ over the last 6 weeks than Melrose Place, the question is whether we should be changing our name from the Sopranos! This week’s special guest appearances were from Steve “Whitey” White and Matt “the nice one” Cleave. Both were making their Soprano debut and did so in [...]

Women’s SL2 v Werribee (R10)

Saturday arvo saw the Kew girls venturing to stinky Werribee to get three big points. Travelling afar, we were fired up to defeat the bottom team, and within the first 20 minutes, Kew were dominating with 5 fast goals.
The high pony tail and ribboned Kew squad were definitely at an advantage physically, with speed and [...]

Women’s PB v MCC (R10)

The team inclusions this week included Ange, Kirsten, Speedy Jess Wilson and Kath Dyson back into the side. The stakes where high, a must win against MCC who were 2 points below us on the ladder.
We started slow, MCC scored early then they scored again, though we finally managed to get a short corner and [...]

Women’s M1N v Footscray (R10)

Kew def. Footscray 3-1
Kew went into this game confident after their impressive 6-0 win last week, despite being up against 2nd-placed Footscray. We welcomed Tina from the 2nds for her return to the T-Birds, who provided us with a strong option up forward.

Women’s M2S v Footscray (R10)

The Girls were up against Footscray to kick off the 2nd half of the season and it was a challenging game from the start. Both teams making strong forward attacks, luckily our defence stood strong and repelled Footscray. But we were also unable to score after some strong offensive play from Leah & Steph.

Women’s Vets B v PEGS (R10)

Result: Kew 0 – PEGS 1
Kew came up against PEGs this week in a match that played out more like a Greek tragedy than a game of hockey.
